Crazy week!
I've not had much time and/or inclination to blog. I'm feeling very uninspired. However I've been reading a ton as usual and doing my thing. This week has been insane really so let me fell you in. The heat here has been very sauna like. We normally don't get this kind of weather until July or August but wow is it here soon. That's part of my disappearing act since my chair & laptop are extremely hot I just haven't felt like sitting in 'em long enough to do much of anything.
Tuesday morning our neighbor, Jhon had to be taken to the hospital due to complications from the colon cancer he's been fighting for 2 months. Then his wife who is also ill had to be rushed to the hospital a few hours later. We have taken in their 3 dogs until they are well enough to come home. Well we already had 3 dogs, now we have a total of 6 for awhile. Two of their dogs are outdoor dogs and are pretty much ok. However Buddy he's a bird dog that got dumped in our neighborhood a few years ago is insanely leary of anything and everything. He's needed a lot of reassuring etc to get use to his new home & to not be so skiddish of us. Add in everyone shooting off bottle rockets & the storms and it's been a up hill battle. The first night they were here I went to get him to put him in the kennel and he shot off so fast once I had the leash on him it jerked it right out of my hand. It took about 30 mins but we finally managed to get him inside.
Mimi is a wired hair terrier mix & she's an inside dog. Which is fine because we already have Beethoven inside however, the first night was a rough one. She is extremely babied & is close to Jhon and with him being gone and being in a new house she was a mess. She's familiar with me & so she won't leave my side, which caused a bit of an issue for Beethoven since he's my dog and felt like he wasn't getting the attention he was before she encroached in on his area. Plus he wouldn't leave her alone since he believes everyone is his friend and she snipped at him a few times. I thought it was going to be a problem but by the next day she was calmer & he knew he needed to leave her alone.
We've also been fighting Buddy breaking his chain....OY and of course Wal-Mart no longer sales dog chain. WHAT IS THAT?! You can be cables for runs & weird chain for tie outs but not normal run of the mill chain. I was beyone frustrated. We had to go to a hardware store today to get him new stuff to hold him.
On top of all that we're dealing with the neighbor 2 doors down allowing his boxer & beagle to run lose. They will leave for work in the morning & let the boxer out for the entire day. Then when they get home they let him in & back out later. Which was annoying in itself however they got a new dog (the beagle) a week ago. The boxer & beagle then were antogonizing my dogs from 9pm-12am, which IS a problem. I've talked to him once before about their boxer digging under our fence to get the chickens in the pasture next door & he pretty much said it was my problem. I had to call the police & the dog catcher for 3 days to have someone do something about it.
They've finally caught the boxer, or at least I think they have. The guys teenage daughter was crying to our other neighbor across the street yesterday about the boxer "missing". I have no sympathy whatsoever for someone who allows their dog to run freely for 8-10 hours then wants to cry about it when they're "gone". You should've cared BEFORE he was missing especially since she's been on summer vacation for 2 months.
Alright I'll stop before I write a book, ciao!
