At 8:30 pm tonight my family & I will be turning off all the electricity in our house for approximately one hour. Why you may ask? To vote earth of course! It's our small party in deciding we want to help save earth and to do something positive against global warming.
Last year it wasn't well known but this year it's HUGE. The word has spread and we can all help to make a difference. You can take pictures of the event and upload it to the Earth Hour flickr group, make a video and upload it to youtube, write a live blog post or if you have a twitter update your twitter and write #earthhour or #voteearth and your #location in your update to tag it.
Last year we played monopoly by candlelight which is prolly what we'll do again today. It's a chance to unplug, reconnect & make a difference.
Especially to any electronic you own? We have a Sony Handycam that's been used twice since my Dad bought it for my Mom. I went to use it today & all that would show up on the LCD screen was a black screen. I immediately went to get the manuals and they were no where to be found. Dad & I are guessing Mom threw them away the other day when she tossed the box away. The good news is that it's apparently some sensor Sony realized was defaulty so they're fixing it free of charge.
I took the picture of Dad & it's not the best in the world but it's still a good one. We threw the breakers so we were sure everything in the house was officially turned off, lit a zillion candles and talked our hour away. Mom wasn't particularly happy about having the television turned off. We really liked it tho, it was nice to be unplugged for an hour to just relax and do nothing. At 9 we ate and then played some monopoly.
